Prototype USA 'Whale Tail" Floyd Rose unit "Holy Grail" EVH Van Halen Kramer

 You are bidding on a piece of guitar history. The first version of the 'whale tail' Floyd Rose trem and nut. These were handmade made in a very limited quantity (I heard 250 but not sure) in the early 80s. These are also the USA versions of Floyds that Ed Van Halen favored and had a hand in designing (the whale tail). These are pre-Schaller Floyds he had on his 5150 Kramer and also the Frankenstrat for many years. Many folks 'in the know' believe these to be superior to any other type Floyd both in construction and tone. It carries with it the best of Floyd features - Completely hand tooled, the "Whale Tail" with fine tuners, the heavier base, and block and better sustain. EVH loved them. Hand tooled bases and saddles with unique rear installed 't' locking blocks, thicker bar, off-center logo and heavy duty base block are some of it's other cool features. Notice there are no spring fingers on these units. That's the way they came. This was before the spring fingers and the bar bushing were invented. Check pics. This is the the last 'loose' one I have. I saved the best condition one for last. I have one more after this but it is on an EVH 5150 Kramer replica guitar that I have for sale elsewhere. 
Nut is also a prototype and is hand-tooled.

A little known step in the Floyd evolution and a very unique bridge, the 'Holy Grail' of Floyds as it's called, these are quite rare these days. A true 5150 or 80-mid 90s Frankenstrat replica cannot be accurate without this bridge. For more info on the unit, check out "Secrets of the 5150 Kramer" on Youtube.
